Adults wanted – Type 2 diabetes remission study

September 23, 2022

The “RESET for Diabetes Remission” research team, led by Dr. Kaberi Dasgupta, is looking for adults aged 18-45 years living with type 2 diabetes who are interested in participating in a clinical study aimed at helping type 2 diabetics achieve diabetes remission (A1c below 6.5%, without medication).

Participants randomized to the intervention group will follow a low-calorie diet provided by the team with the support of a dietitian, as well as an exercise program with the support of a personal trainer.

Participants in the control group will follow their normal care routine, but will also be offered the diet components and access to a dietitian and the study physician at the end of their participation (6 months after consent).

This study presents an important opportunity for participants to achieve remission of their diabetes and improve their health. The components of the low-calorie diet, access to the gym and follow-up by a dietitian and the study physician are provided by the research team. Participation in the project also includes medical evaluations at the MUHC Glen Site (1001 Décarie Blvd., H4A 3J1).
