Ingredients
- 5 whole-wheat pita breads (6.5 ” – 16.5 cm diameter)
- 1 can (7.5 oz) (213 mL) canned pizza tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 oz) (170 g ) canned tuna
- 1 onion, small, sliced into rings
- 1 cup (250 mL) diced zucchini (about 1 zucchini)
- 1 cup (250 mL) diced red or green bell pepper (about 1 bell pepper)
- 1 cup (250 mL) broccoli, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 1/2 cups (9 oz) (625 mL(270 g)) part-skim mozzarella cheese, 15% M.F., grated
- 2 tsp (10 mL) dried basil
- 2 tsp (10 mL) dried thyme
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350ºF (180ºC).
- Place 5 pita breads on baking sheets.
- Top each with all ingredients, dividing evenly in the following order: tomato sauce, tuna, onion, zucchini, bell pepper, broccoli, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and herbs.
- Bake in the middle of the oven for approx. 15 minutes, then broil the cheese before serving.
