People living with type 1 diabetes wanted – Project BETTER

October 7, 2020

The BETTER project brings together patient-partners and parents of children living with type 1 diabetes, researchers, healthcare professionals and policy makers who are involved and interested in advancing research to improve clinical practices, treatments and quality of life for people living with type 1 diabetes.

The project aims to measure and reduce hypoglycemia in people living with type 1 diabetes and has three main components:

THE REGISTRY: As of April 2019, anyone living with type 1 diabetes in Quebec is invited to join the BETTER Registry. This registry aims to better identify the needs and realities related to type 1 diabetes. People who register answer one or more questionnaires about their experience with hypoglycemia. The information collected will allow researchers to better understand the issues and test approaches to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. READ MORE

SUPPORT PLATFORM: In parallel to the registry, an online training platform specific to type 1 diabetes issues and problems is available for adults enrolled in the registry. LEARN MORE

BETTER STUDIES: Studies related to hypoglycemia are also being conducted as part of the project, aimed at leveraging technologies and therapies to reduce hypoglycemia. LEARN MORE
